My Newt sculpture is modelled after the Rough-Skinned Newt, a member of the amphibian family and in the wild, they live both on land and in the water. I often find them during the rainy season on my walks in the forest crossing the trail. I always feel better about our world when I see all the frogs and newts, it's a sign of a healthy ecosystem that is so important to all of us earthly creatures.
I sculpted my newt in wax then using the lost wax method, we cast it in bronze for the original design. We make a mould using the bronze to create my reproductions in silver pewter. Hand sanded and polished, finished with a black patina to give the sculpture dept and highlight it's detailing.
My newt sculpture is close to the life-size real ones.
