Slug sculpture
Here on the west coast, we have gigantic slugs and as gardeners, we love to hate them. When I find them in my garden I just relocate them, plus adding a 4" copper ring around your plants will stop them in their tracks. They're great workers out in the forest, dancing to the cycle of life they do their part. They are a beautiful animal once you get past the slimy part, the good thing is this copper slug isn't slimy.
I first created the original slug sculpture in wax, cast in bronze using the lost wax method. Reproductions are made in silver pewter, or copper plated, then the fun begins. I'll treat the metal with solutions to either create the unique blue-green patina and the colors in the copper. This is my silver pewter slug.
Measures 140mm x 38mm x 30mm (5-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1-3/8" high) life size if you can believe that.
