Hummingbird hanging sculpture
Hanging Hummingbird sculpture
This lovely life-size hummer is perfect for hanging in a window or outside under a porch. In my part of the world (south/west coast of Canada) some hummingbirds overwinter because people leave out their hummingbird feeders all year long. Where I live the population is lower so we don't see them very much or none at all over the winter months but they always show up mid-March like clockwork, a sure sign of spring. We have the Rufus and Annas hummingbirds here and yes we do feed them from March until August, by then they're on their way back south for the winter. I guess we share hummingbirds with Californians, summer in Canada winter in California, sounds good to me! :)
The original Hummingbird is sculpted in wax then cast using the lost wax method, made in bronze sculpture, and reproduced in silver pewter. The piece is made in silver pewter, finished with an antique patina and a protective clear coat to maintain its beautiful finish. The cord used for hanging the hummingbird sculpture is made of stainless steel with silver crimps forming a loop to use to attach to a hook. It is strong and durable.
All my designs are made in my home-based studio workshop on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of BC Canada.
